Comments Thread For: 'Golden Boy Live' Early Results: Robles, Vences Win

In a slugfest, lightweight Andy Vences (9-0, 5 KOs) of San Jose, California, won by third-round technical knockout over Cesar Martinez of Los Angeles (4-3-2, 1 KO).

Midway through the first round, Martinez, 131.5, made the mistake of rushing Vences, 130.5. Vences subsequently slipped the shot and connected with a short right hand that put his adversary on the canvas.

Nagy just dominated an inept heavyweight and was robbed. As to Avila, he has zero ability to block a punch and is lucky his opponent couldn't punch. Very rarely does a "prospect" have zero defense but Avila just proved it.

this is how I felt. nagy was aggressive & pushed Washington around all night. he jabbed & threw right left combos to the body & head. several times Washington looked hurt & held. he ran all night with the occasion jab & 1-2. Gerald landed a few shots that backed Aguilera off but for the most part nagy was in his kitchen all night. he pushed him to the corner & unloaded on a regular basis. I had the fight 78-72 Aguilera. that was a great performance. Aguilera should get some more fights as he is one of the better journeymen on the scene right now. Gerald washington will be exposed if he doesn't make some improvements. Washington landed some shots in each round but only 2 rounds I thought he out worked nagy & won the round. no surprise as Washington is a GBP protégé. I didn't think a big HW in great shape would be fighting like a lightweight & back peddling so much. he was on his back foot for most of the fight...
