It could mean that, or it could mean that Cotto will sit on the MW belt until he fights Canelo.

Cotto and Roach would rather fight Canelo at 154 than some catchweight between 155-160. Canelo's huge, Cotto only weighed 161 when he stepped in the ring against Martinez, there's no telling how much Canelo would blow up to if this was fought at middleweight.

I know he's been fighting there his last two, but I think he's drained down there. I know people will say he's not that good, but i think he's better served at MW. He is a decent name fighter for them to fight on regular HBO though and sell MSG

How does that change the fact that what he said about Cotto is true?

          Standard deflection.

that's the thing-dan Rafael is saying this is going to be on PPV since HBO's budget for the year is exhausted.

It doesn't change it, but it proves that fans criticize the fighters they hate for the same shiet their favorite fighters do. Pot calling the kettle black.

Is GGG that guy's favorite fighter? Cause if so it applies, if not then it's just him deflecting when the topic is on Cotto

Andy Lee is just a set up fight for him before the Canelo showdown like (probably) Kirkland for Canelo. Are you really wait from Cotto that before the big money fight against Canelo, fight with Golovkin? Lol...
He can still fight with Golovkin if he beat Lee and Canelo (I don't think he beat Canelo but he beat Lee).
But I guess if you were Cotto your choice would be Golovkin first and you would just want after that the big money fight with Canelo. Who cares that Golovkin is a much bigger risk than Andy Lee and much lower regard than Canelo... Right?
I don't like if someone ducks someone, but Cotto is a natural welterweight and he just won a middleweight title in June, give the man a break, be a little more patient, you can't wait from every single new crowned champion that go against other champs just after they win a title. I have no problem with this if he just put in succession his opponents. Canelo is a little less or equal risk than GGG but much higher regard so he will fight Canelo first and if he'll win that after (probably) fight with Golovkin. But they want to maximalize the profit and fight on Cinco de Mayo, so first both of them need a set up fight. That's all, it's sound, logical and in this case I think it's alright. The critics will be right if he'll beat Canelo and after that still won't fight with Golovkin, but now it sounds to me more like the angry Golovkin fans complaining. Be mad at K2, Golovkin's bum ass promotion company, not just at other fighters... And I said already I think a Canelo-GGG fight in the future is more likely.

I don't understand this fight. How can it be for the WBC belt when Floyd is holding it? To me a rematch with Trout makes a lot more sense than Andy Lee, who will be tough to beat. If he beats Trout he avenges a loss. If he beats Lee it won't mean much even though it would be impressive considering the size difference.

Also Floyd will be "defending" it in his upcoming fight with Maidana... so it doesn't make any sense anymore because if he does defend it, December is well within the 6 months to get stripped....... but wbc
