Well am more impress with the judges to be honest, they didn't let the champions ineffective aggressive nature fool them, he needs to channel that energy in the right way, He has been in championship fights before but I swear anyone watching those 2 for the first time would have thought Brook was the one who has been fighting at that level for a while.

Porter looked real amateurish the way he was trying to get out of the clinch, almost like a kid having a tantrum, he exerted too much energy doing that. I also couldn't understand why he was head hunting whilst in the clinch, Brook rolled all of it although many of them hit the back of his head. I thought Porter would have been smart enough to utilize one or two good uppercuts when Brook looked to smother/ tie up too.

What we saw with Porter is what we see with most seek and destroy type fighters.

For example. Provodnikov against Algieri. Porter versus Brook. Donaire versus Rigondeaux.

Now some will argue that Nonito is not a pure seek and destroy guy as he prefers to counter, but his mindset is basically KO or bust.

With the right guy in front of them, they look spectacular. However, when they come across a guy who they can't bulldoze through, they look lost. They can't adjust. Hell even Donaire was utterly lost in Donaire/Darchinyan 2...until he landed that one big shot late that ended up leading to the stoppage.

All three guys, Provo, Donaire, and Porter are different stylistically...but one thing they all have in common is a seek and destroy mindset. But once all three were in with the wrong guy -- they looked completely befuddled and had no way to adjust. At all. And these are just a few examples, but I think the vast majority of seek and destroy guys eventually run into this problem. Just can't seem to adjust when they can't hurt the guy across from them.

That's why I like Mayweather Sr. He knows what he is talking about. And he is right about Kenny Porter. Porter worked out in the Mayweather Boxing Club sometimes, he knows what's wrong.

And lets be honest -- a lot of us, including myself, got a little too overly excited with how Porter wrecked Paulie. But Paulie, god love him, is and always was a C fighter who milked every imaginable ounce out of the lesser talent that he was blessed with to fully overachieve his way into B minus fighter status. At his very, absolute best. What was Paulie's most memorable performance in recent years? A semi-close decision loss to Broner? A win over a half dead, going through the motions Zab Judah?

Now the Devon Alexander win, that really opened my eyes on Porter. That was a nice win. But a lot of us went over the edge when Shawn plowed through Malignaggi, and in hindsight, that was probably in reality not nearly as impressive as a few of us made it out to be.
