Comments Thread For: Maidana Admits He Was Too Anxious With Mayweather

Marcos Maidana (35-4, 32 KOs) admits he got too anxious in his rematch with WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26KOs) back in May. The rematch is scheduled for September 13th at the same venue, the MGM Grand of Las Vegas. Maidana became tired during the fight because he was throwing a lot of wild punches when trying to land something big on Mayweather.

Well, considering you got beat by a land slide on the cards....get ready to throw 1,600 punches instead of 800. You will need to Outland him by 100 punches. Castillo outlanded him by 40...good luck!

You actually believe those punch stats for the Castillo fight? That's the problem, people wait on and depend on the punch stats to tell who won a boxing match instead of just studying the fight itself.

And when he "paced" himself Floyd made it easier. Might as well go balls to the wall

Maidana just hasn't realized how great of a fighter Floyd is yet.

          He will after Sep. 13.

That's the issue. He can either do that even greater than the first fight or box a little more and drop him with a shot similar to his counter.

I still don't know the glove situation though. Any insight?

It's clear he lost the 1st Castillo fight without any punch stats. You're just too biased to see it.

I scored the fight for Floyd, a close 116-112. I could see 115-113. The thing is I do not expect Floyd to do much better in this fight. Maidana will likely repeat his success. Money is finally starting to get old. He can't move as well anymore and he is just not strong enough as a WW to hold Maidana off. This will be another close fight. Nothing Floyd did in the first fight tells me that he will do better in this one.
