Which doesn't say much about their confidence in him. There is a reason this guy has been fighting mediocre opposition on non televised cards for ages now (because for whatever reasons he just hasn't really progressed well as a pro).

Top rank spent a lot of $ for korobov already, they expected him to he a star who was going to hold down shows in NYC, but injuries set him back, and TR most likely doesn't want to risk spending anymore on him, because as of this point, he's a financial loss.

Can't blame them for being hesitant.

Nah it's not like that at all. It's that Matt isn't really anything more than a prospect to Top Rank, while Quillin is a banner guy for GBP and Showtime, he's made a lot of money for GBP so they're going to try to make sure they win the bid so he can have every possible advantage.

Not sure what Jay Z's play in all of this is, but he's gotta be interested in fellow Brooklynite Peter Quillin to some degree. Is Quillin even actually signed with GBP?

Also... wasn't Al Haymon allegedly linked to a scheme involving defrauding Jay Z's wife out of a bunch of money? And now Jay Z wants to stage a boxing match involving one of Haymons fighters?

        Trouble brewing.

Top Rank does have a cosign on Ryota Murata, whom they can profit off a lot more with low risk fights.

This is good for boxing to have another promoter. Both these fighters are going to get paid very well, why hate on that.
