Calzaghe Or Hatton?

This whole "Hatton or Calzaghe" thing is ridiculous to me. Joe just beat a wrecking ball in his prime....and Hatton beat up on a guy who needed a walking stick and new batteries for his pacemaker.

I agree with you word for word Badmag.

Calzaghe still has more work to do.

But cong**** to him. Lacy fought poorly however, there is no denying that. He threw 3 combos all night.

Joe is top ten p4p, especially with JMM's loss.

Hatton is the better ranked fighter for now, due to his win over former top FIVE p4p Tszyu. Lacy was not even top 10 p4p, but was merely on the CUSP of it...til he met Joe.

Tszyu's a legend who was in great shape when he fought Hatton, i met the guy when i was in Russia last week and he's a little freak of nature, he's so strong for his size and i have no doubt he's a far better fighter than Lacy could ever hope to be.

i dont remember hatton faking an injury and from what i can tell, hatton's fighting outside of europe, hatton defeated a modern legend, and hatton unified the titles on his own accord.

I meant the credibility of Joe not the posters...

I think Joe's marketability value has just risen 10-fold in America... he better be prepared for some serious figures in his bank account after beating the pride and joy of the 168 lbers, and the one that most Americans were banking on to do the business. The fact it was free-live-on showtime-at prime time in America also adds to the amount of exposure Joe now has... he must feel over the moon.

Come on, his punches are sloppy, be honest. He does slap. He may slap hard, but he's not hitting with his knuckles all the time. At any rate, he's a great fighter. I've seen other fights of his, and (while I wanted him to lose, especially the one where he went down, then got up and TKO'ed the guy, and the ref didn't give his opponent a second chance as he had gotten... I can't recall who it was against) I've always thought he was a skilled fighter. Of course, I will always pick my homeland fighter and talk him up more than a foreign fighter, because that's what I do. But Calzaghe is a very good fighter, with some stuff left to prove.

Not to mention that looked more like something out of the ****ing WWF than boxing. What the ****? If we're to compare the two wins, Calzaghe's was far more impressive. He didn't have to resort to illegal blows, though he held far too much for my taste, and he completely dominated the bout. There wasn't a single round where one might think Lacy won. It was an utter domination. The same can't be said for HAtton-Tszyu. Hatton wrestled around with Tszyu more than he boxed him.

Yeah, I actually admitted to Joe slapping in some of his previous fights, on another thread. I noticed it about 5 fights ago when I really started to take note of Joe Calzaghe (this was before I was even a fan of boxing) and he didnt appear to throw his punches straight and especially the hooks appeared to be very odd in the technique. So I would agree, but tonight he changed. I saw little evidence of slapping. His shots were executed to perfection and his feet where in harmony with his hands all night long. He evaded shots and dished out the shots... in many ways he pivoted and threw flurries then slipped counterpunches like your boy - Roy.

I think the fight you are referring to is the Byron Mitchell fight, but dont quote me on that...

And yeah, next step America or another massive fight over here I wouldnt object to either. To me, the location doesnt matter, its the opponent from here on in. Just like the letters on the belt dont matter, its the fighter wearing the belt.

I think you're right about the fight it was against, and I also agree with your last paragraph, unless it's Germany. If you don't fight out of Germany, you better damn well KO your opponent, because you're not gonna get that decision.

I also agree that Joe looked absolutely amazing tonight. From round one I was just thinking, "this is not what I thought it was going to be."
