DISCLAIMER: This is in no way an attempt to justify the Floyd-Maidana glove situation. I believe that Maidana, or any other of Floyd's opponents, should be allowed to wear whatever gloves they want. Floyd wears the gloves he does because of his hands, that's HIS problem. Other fighters shouldn't have to wear those gloves to "level the playing field". Loadedwraps and Sweatpea50 can verify my feelings on this, I said it over the one of those live radio/telephone conversations. Got that? Read this over a couple of times and if it still doesn't make sense, stay the fuck out of my thread. Thanks.
That said.. People complained a lot about how Maidana's gloves in the Floyd fight compromised his power. Then it hit me: All these years, Floyd has worn softer gloves to protect his hands. Has the effectiveness of Floyd's punches been significantly reduced because of the gloves he wears?
Poll on the way.
He strongly felt Maidana's gloves looked thin compared to regular gloves and the commission agreed.
They were satisfied with the second pair on the show went on.
If Maidana was truly adamant about the glove issue he would refuse to fight again until he got what he desired.
Apparently, the money's too good to pass up, so he must be satisfied with whatever pair of gloves he will be wearing for the rematch.
The show will go on again, giving Maidana the oppurtunity to redeem himself regardless if the gloves issue.

Floyd refused the second pair that received approval, and Maidana eventually had to use foam gloves instead of horsehair.

Also, Floyd and Ellerbe has gone on record saying that he's officially had talks in the past about fighting at the Barclays.Last edited by radioraheem; 08-16-2014, 10:12 AM.
