  • Does Floyd's "pillow" gloves compromise his power? (READ DISCLAIMER)

Let's see if you morons can read:

DISCLAIMER: This is in no way an attempt to justify the Floyd-Maidana glove situation. I believe that Maidana, or any other of Floyd's opponents, should be allowed to wear whatever gloves they want. Floyd wears the gloves he does because of his hands, that's HIS problem. Other fighters shouldn't have to wear those gloves to "level the playing field". Loadedwraps and Sweatpea50 can verify my feelings on this, I said it over the one of those live radio/telephone conversations. Got that? Read this over a couple of times and if it still doesn't make sense, stay the fuck out of my thread. Thanks.

That said.. People complained a lot about how Maidana's gloves in the Floyd fight compromised his power. Then it hit me: All these years, Floyd has worn softer gloves to protect his hands. Has the effectiveness of Floyd's punches been significantly reduced because of the gloves he wears?

I don't think so.. It's still force and weight behind punches.

Nah not really. Floyd has never had crushing power but in his early days in the lower weight classes he stopped a lot if guys through his combinations. He just has brittle hands and doesn't throw as much as he used to. But as the poster above said the gloves are still weighty enough to do some damage. Golovkin wears grants too and well...yeah. That said though floyd has decent enough power to keep you honest.

It wouldn't be a schooling, it would be more like a vicious sodomy.

Their main purpose is to protect his hands, but yes obviously it takes a little power away

I've had the same pair so I'm not 100%but I imagine extra padding takes away a little power,

Nah, nah, Teddy's back problems prevent him from doing that. He'll even old larry could beat max. I won't even talk about wife beater lampley.

Floyd was a massive puncher in his Reyes gloves days, of course the pillows halt his power, those who watch Floyd his whole career even see's that he punches different also, he tries to aim lobbed shots right at the chin to avoid hitting someone hard head and protect his brittle hands...............For instance look how the trajectory changes mid punch

Obviously. They protect his hands and mute his power.
