    Revisiting the Porter/Paulie fight.

Was it a case of improved punching power (many people are gonna bring up PEDs), or did Paulie's punch resistance go overnight?

I don't ever remember Porter having this type of pop, and Paulie's always been a sturdy guy. He got dropped in his previous fight to Zab, but he wasn't really hurt. The power that Porter showed surprised the hell outta me.

I would guess Paulie being shot. I watched some of the Alexander fight this week and he was hurting Alexander badly too. Paulie just needs to hang em up

I'm actually surprised he couldn't take out Alexander that night. At least by ref stoppage. He hit Devon with the kitchen sink, and then some.

Not trying to be rude but do you think anybody really knows the answer ?
But I'll take a crack at it

Porters a big guy I remember correctly he used to play foot ball so he's just a strong sob and cuts massive weight to make 147 while Paulie was already a very small 147lb him self so you have a massive guy at the tail end of his career vs a much stronger in his prime huge 147lb fighter. Not to mention Paulie ate that massive hook to the face with all of porters weight behind it and he could never recover well he really didn't get a chance to either but yeah that's my guess

It's like Thurman said, Paulie refused to keep his hands up so everything was landing flush.

Razor Ruddock went from a boxer to a puncher. I believe Sergio was much more of a puncher in the 2nd half of his career than he was in the 1st. It's not unheard of. You also have to take age into consideration. Muscle mass peaks in the mid-to-late 20s, so Porter strength would naturally be increasing.

Devon has a damn good chin. He's taken shots from some of the hardest punchers out there from 140-147

I think Porter took the calculated risk of not caring about paulies power at all. Going for broke at the onset because he knew he couldnt hurt him.

I thought it was an exceptional game plan. He basically said who cares if he counters me, and went after him with everything he had. He might not be able to leap in as much with great counter punchers

Lol not caring about Paulie's power isn't exactly the biggest risk.

I'm willing to believe that Paulie being at the end of his career plus Porter finding himself might be the answer, but honestly until he takes some serious testing I'll question him. Not willing to accuse him, but I have questions.
