I'd love to see a nearly 50year old man beat Kovalev. Ill certainly be rooting for him.
Do I expect him to win, No! It's either a stroke of genius by Hopkins as he see's something we don't, or it could an intense beat-down by one of the p4p hardest hitters in boxing today.
Its hard to say, Hopkins usually doesn't get hit clean & Kovalev isn't a speed fighter or have an insane work rate. My personal view is that it will be a close and uneventful fight, due to Hopkins spoiling tactics. But there is a chance popkins can be Ko'd badly for the first time in his career.
I will most definitely be staying up late here in the UK to watch it.Last edited by bboy80; 09-07-2014, 02:51 PM.

But he is so crafty he may beat Kovalev, with some help from the referee. It's a safe bet he'll cut Kovalev with a deliberate head butt.
I just hope there ref isn't someone crooked like Laurence Cole or Jack Reiss. And hopefully it won't be Hopkins' friend Steve Smoger.

The referee will be David Fields.
All four officials are from the same part of the country as Bernard Hopkins. Will that make a difference?
Will they be rooting for the old ex-convict?

I'm rooting for Hopkins which is odd for me because style-wise I prefer Sergey type approaches over Hopkins type. But c'mon the guy is almost 50, hard not to root for him when he is taking a risk so many younger fighters are scared to take.
