Comments Thread For: Ingle: Hatton Put England on 147 Map, Now Brook Will!

Dominic Ingle, trainer of Kell Brook (32-0, 22KOs), says his fighter will place England back on the map at welterweight - repeating an accomplishment by Manchester hero Ricky Hatton, who flew to America to defeat Luis Collazo for the WBA welterweight crown in 2006.

This Saturday at the StubHub Center in Carson, California - Brook will get his own title opportunity on American soil when he challenges Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15KOs) for the IBF championship in the main event of a Showtime televised tripleheader.

I wonder what made hatton so popular I've seen fighters with much better skill from uk that don't have the pulling power he does.

hatton was one of the best matched fight ever in boxing history - how a guy with so little talent made it unbeaten before mayweather baffles me

hatton should thanks frank warren and his matchmaker

its because he was a working class hero

A very likeable guy with pretty much no ego that enjoyed a few pints with the lads

            whats not to like ?

every fight he went into you never knew if he was gonna win or lose but you could guarantee it would be a exciting fight

uk needs more legends like ricky . top man

Ted"Kid"Lewis, John H.Stracey & Lloyd Honeyghan all put the UK on the map @ 147Lb & proved to be #1 before Ricky!

147 wasn't a good weight class for hatton.
