Also, I once read that Leonard actually did offer to fight Pryor and it was Pryor who turned it down, so he had the opportunity and still didn't take it.Not even remotely true. A) Anyone who fights Duran, Hearns, and Hagler is not afraid of Pryor, period. B), Leonard and Pryor sparred MANY TIMES and were friends, close friends and visited each other's families, there was no fear at all between them, period. C) Pryor did not bring anywhere near the money Leonard earned in the fabulous 4, D) If Pryor was serious about challenging Welterweights, he would have moved up and fought a Welterweight contender, just like Duran did to get a shot. Duran fought 2 ranked Welterweights to get a shot. E) Pryor stayed at 140 where he was comfortable and did not fight at Welterweight in his prime. I know plenty about these two fighters, I have emailed both Leonard and Pryor's wife in the past.

This is true for the first offer. In fact, Pryor turned down a Leonard offer, accepted the second one and signed the fight. And he also turned down a Duran offer. Straight from Wikipedia:
Pryor signed to face Sugar Ray Leonard for the undisputed welterweight championship in the fall of 1982. His purse was going to be $750,000. Pryor had previously been offered $500,000 to fight Leonard, but he turned it down. Before fighting Pryor, Leonard first had to defend his title against Roger Stafford in Buffalo, New York on May 14, 1982. Pryor was on his way to Buffalo to taunt Leonard and help hype the fight when he heard on his car radio that Leonard had suffered a detached retina. "I pulled off to the side of the road and I cried," Pryor said. Leonard retired six months later.
Pryor was offered $750,000 to fight Roberto Duran but turned it down because his new attorney told him not to sign anything until he worked out a new contract with LaRosa. By the time they worked out a new agreement, the chance to fight Duran was gone.
