Comments Thread For: Daniel Jacobs: Getting Golovkin is Out of My Control

Gennady Golovkin is the World Boxing Association’s “super” titleholder at 160 pounds. Daniel Jacobs, as of this past Saturday, is the WBA’s “regular” titleholder at 160. And the sanctioning body somehow had another bout on the same night as Jacobs’ win in which Dmitry Chudinov defended the WBA “interim” title at middleweight.

Every MW with Al Haymon is avoiding GGG worse than Ward lol.

Well let's see....GB is working with HBO for a Hopkins fight that got done in a week. That leaves the Al Haymon factor as holding it up as usual. The guy supposed to be an advisor right? Can't these fighters tell him they want to fight the best? Or are they too scared of the repercussions? We will see if Haymon even gets him a quillen fight next. If not, it's a joke.

Jacobs should fight David Lemieux next.

I think part of the motivation to let B-Hop fight Kovalev was that 1) B-Hop would've been stripped if he didn't 2) The lawsuit against GBP/Haymon by Main Events was dropped shortly after B-Hop agreed to the fight. 3) B-Hop vs. Kovalev on HBO is huge, so it was in both parties' interest (HBO & Haymon) to agree to the fight. I don't hink we'll see HBO working with Haymon regularly, although I wish we would.

I don't think hopkins is with Haymon. According to the hopkins interview posted here a few days ago, Haymon was trying to stall the Stevenson fight so Hopkins would vacate so his guy would fight for that title. So happens his guy lost of FNF anyways. They didn't think Hop would go to HBO for the Kovalev fight apparently. Haymon is a turd.

1st- very disappointed in what Jacobs just said, Hopkins just pulled the move to show other fighters and the fans that these fights can happen. Hopkins also took less $ - yes he would have been stripped, but that shows what kind of champ hopkins is and what he thinks about his legacy. 2nd - GGG fans are becoming more annoying than Pac fans, blind loyalty - stop bringing up Ward, he already checked GGG's team about putting his name in their mouth if you fan boys would really read the articles and interviews they do not even mention ward anymore so that tell s you everything you need to know - he will fight at 168 against the right safest opponent - no threats at 168 -

Jacobs has been through a lot (understatement) apparently he couldn't even walk at one point. I can do without seeing him in the ring with Golovkin.
