Bernard Hopkins Pound for Pound confusions

Yesterday on Friday Night Fights, Bernard Hopkins said some things about his upcoming fight with Antonio Tarver. But the thing that struck me the most was when Bernard said that a win over Tarver should put him back in the Ring magazine top 5 P4P rankings. I found that interesting because Tarver is ranked at number 9, so how would a victory over him put Bernard in the top 5? On the other hand, it is a major achievement to jump two divisions in one fight and become Light-Heavyweight champ. But Tarver only won the title from an old Roy Jones.

What do you guys think? Would Bernard's past accomplishments combined with the LHW title put him back in the top 5?

Well since he was robbed twice by Taylor(we all know this and thats why *** Intentions isnt even in the top ten lol) then moving up to fight Tarver and if he wins, he should be top 5 because he used to be number 1.

Taylor won the second fight easy, and Tarver is to strong for Hopkins.

he never should have been there for the second fight. those arent taylors belts and everyone knows it. and yes if hop beats tarver and becomes lhw champ at the age he is he definately deserves to be top five.

if anything nard will probably go back in the top 5 on merit alone if he wins but depending on how he wins will determine wether he deserves it

I agree with your first point but I'm not sure about top five. It WOULD be an accomplishment at his age. However, he still has to beat Tarver. That won't be easy, this fight is actually safe for Tarver IMO.

Tarver is a ****y boxer, he has a sloppy style and is in no way as technical as B-hop, but Tarver is much bigger than B-hop.

B-hop thinks of himself as one of the greats because he had 20 title defenses against nobodies, (DLH and Tito are Welters who started at much lighter divisions). I personally don't think that he is a great, but that is my opinion.

I hope that B-hop beats Tarver bc Tarver is a piece of shyt. He talks like he never finished high school, and his style has many many flaws.

Side note; I give B-hop respect for finally coming out of the Middleweight division, I think that it is difficult to be considered "great" if all you did is dominate a division that lacked talent.
