If Danny wants to move to 147 and prove he's the top 147 lber he better take on Thurman if Thurman remains undefeated.

2.The person I was responding to was you so no they weren't made up. You listed the best available options and said they were as big of a cherry pick, so let me ask you. By putting the best available options on the same level as Salka are you not saying he/he's as good as the best available option? As far as what you were responding to, I'll be honest at this point I have absolutely no idea what it was. However most of my initial post and the part your upset about had little to do with him not fighting Peterson and everything to do with you and others like you who keep defending this stuff which is clearly nothing more than a money grab, and many of your comments in this thread do exactly that including the ones you've written to me.

3.Yes they are giving you something. You're right I can just not tune in but I pay for my Showtime subscription so that I can watch boxing, so when I'm given this I am being robbed. If I choose not to watch it my bill doesn't go down. That's why I'm in my "nerd rage" everyone in the world saw that this was trash from the second it was made (the entire card, not just the Garcia one) but the "professionals" kept trying to tell us how wrong we were. Then tonight happened and us dumb fans found out how right we actually were.

Was I emotional? Yea i admitted it. This is a subject that pisses me off to no end. Boxing is my favorite sport, I watch great amounts of it, have tv and magazine subscriptions, I buy tickets to fights, I buy just about every PPV and continue to support these people who then in turn reward me with this nonsense. Nights like this illustrate exactly how broken this system is. Then there are people who come in and defend it even though they know how bad it is and it pisses me off. I stand by everything I wrote, just if I wrote it now it would probably include less profanity.
      1. You have a problem with prizefighters fighting for money. Whatever. Mohammad Ali didn't continuously fight top opposition. Sugar Ray Robinson didn't continuously fight top opposition. Even legends have their share of gimmes at the top level. Get over it. It's a part of boxing, and always will be. As long as he gets around to fighting who he's supposed to in his prime, that's all that matters when the case is closed on his career. His resume is better than a lot of active boxers today, and he's only 26.

      2. I absolutely was not saying that. Again, you're taking my post out of context because you don't know what I was talking about. I said that Salka would be as much of a cherry pick because according to several posters in this thread, Garcia is just a cherry picker. If he picked an unknown at the bottom of the top 10 or a guy coming off of a loss, his critics would have the same ammo to criticize him as they had for him fighting Salka. While I believe they found the worst possible can for him to fight, fighting a better quality can is still fighting a can in the eyes of a detractor. People would still belt out the normal "he's ducking the Herrera rematch" type banter.

And yes, I defend guys who get hit in the head for a living getting paid. He had a tough night out against Herrera, took a gimme, and will more than likely be fighting Peterson next, if he doesn't rematch Herrera. I'm completely OK with that. Again, at 26 years old, he has plenty of time to etch out a legendary career if he has it in him.

      3. For the second time, Showtime/Haymon isn't giving or feeding me anything. I use Showtime for more than boxing, as I do with all of the other cable stations I pay for. If there's something on I don't like, I simply switch to something else. If you can't do that, perhaps you should cancel your subscription and stream online. Everytime Showtime plays a movie I don't like, I don't consider it a robbery.

While I do applaud your devotion to the sport, you'd do well to remember that this is a business before anything else, and some fights aren't going to happen when you want them to. Sometimes they don't happen at all. Marciano never fought Patterson. Leonard never fought Hawk, and waited 5 years to fight Marvelous. Floyd will never fight Pacman. Bowe never fought Lewis. It sucks when it happens, but boxing will continue to have legendary nights regardless of this fact. If you have an issue with that, take it up with the boxing organizations that sanction these fights. Don't insult people like me because my opinion is different than yours.

Id want to see that fight I just don't see Garcia jumping up to 147 and facing Thurman right away if it happend that'd be sweet but Thurman isn't the only name at 147 that would make for a good dangerous fight for Garcia. I have a feeling you just want him to fight Thurman so you can watch him get beat down and you figure that Thurman's the best bet to do it at 147.

Probably read 10 of your 50 posts and they've all been $.

Oh, you want to be a wise ass. Okay. I'll bite. When old times fought in the 40-60s era, they fought five to six times a year because they had to to earn a decent living. They had to because there was no HBO or Showtime paying huge purses and and no casinos paying million dollar site fees, so if they wanted to make a living fighting, they had to fight often. It is true that they didfn't always fight A-list fighters because, when you fight 5-6 times a year, YOU TEND TO RUN OUT OF A-LIST FIGHTERS AFTER A WHILE. But, they did fight the best opponents they could because promoters made their money off of the gates and not too many people would pay top dollar to see fighters fight the 77th ranked fight at a lower division.

Today, top fighters only fight twice a year and fight for huge purses. Usually, by the time they get to their 40th fight, they have retired or are close to retirement. So, to answer your question, hell no, you should not be taking tuneups, especially when you are winning. Most fighters only take tuneups when they lose, not when they win. Garcia is taking tuneups to avoid fighting the tough guys and I do have a problem with that.

Your comment shows just how little you know about boxing.

The fact that you're posting all of this nonsense simply shows a willingness to gloss over this corrupt behavior by those who take the fans money without a second thought. Find me a fight where a legend who was at the time the lineal champion of his division asking a fighter to come up two divisions to fight him in a one sided mismatch aired on premium cable.

              Hint: you won't find it.

Miguel Cotto was KO'd by Margarito and Pacquaio. The fighters he fought after those KO's were higher ranked and better quality fighters than Garcia fought last night as an undefeated linear champion.

You are absolutely right. Garcia deserves nothing cricitism for insulting the fans with this joke of a fight.

Good. Let's move on. Come on, Danny, fight PEDerson now and make up for this garbage.

                  • Horrible match up. Honestly I went to sleep at 9:20 not even interested in the fight. Woke up this morning and wasn't the least bit surprised about the out come. Hate to say it but I won't watch any fighter that isn't fighting the caliber opponent that he should be. This was a horrible match up and one that the fans should have definitely stayed away from.
