Middleweight contender Curtis "Showtime" Stevens does not expect WBC champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs) to accept a unification challenge from WBA/IBO champ Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (30-0, 27KOs). Stevens faced Golovkin last November and was stopped in the eight round.
Cotto's trainer, Freddie Roach, said he'll consider Golovkin as a possible opponent in the future - if the puncher from Kazakhstan is willing to fight Cotto at a catch-weight of around 155-pounds, which is one-pound shy of the junior middleweight limit. Fight fans are shaking their heads at the thought of a "middleweight unification" taking place nearly one division south.
