This fight is not alright and the reason is simple!! Why would any reasonable management team for a boxer put him in with someone with so many early KO losses when the goal should have been to get him rounds??!!!! They should have gotten some iron chinned guy who could give Wilder the 8-10 rounds he needs because Stamina is not built overnight and you don't take your fighter into a title fight having not gone past 4 rounds unless the goal is to cash out on Wilder and that is obviously their goal. Something is very wrong with Wilder's team.

He's gonna be ****ed.
You know what, thinking back on it now, you're right. Mike Sheppard is far from a warm up fight... not even close to Salka. Like Boston guy pointed out, he's a guy you should be fighting on your 10th fight or less.... but he's the #1 mando and he's fighting sheppard.

Even if it's a stay busy fight...... he should be beyond that... but then again, his opponents have been guys that people like Anthony Joshua or Breazle should be fighting.

Its not just that man. These people knew the fight with Stiverne wasn't gonna materialize so they had time to get a decent opponent. But instead they're playing the "it's a short notice opponent" card.

Seriously, I hope I'm wrong but this whole fighting cans all the time thing is gonna blow up in their face.

He HAD to of gotten KO'd in sparring before. That's only reason even remotely plausible for why he's fought nothing but nobodies for 30 straight fights.
Maybe, maybe not. There's no doubt that Wilder is a developing fighter. But his team is going on about this the wrong way. How the F can you develop if you don't get the rounds in?!

Darnell Wilson posted on ESB just now:

"Just got a call saying that Sheppard was out because the commission wouldn't approve him, so I offered to fight him again and they said they wanted someone easier"

Meanwhile Wilder's manager releases statement that Wilder-Sheppard is "The biggest fight of his career" rofl

This is really bad for Wilder to be fighting this calibre of opponent at this stage of his career. "Stay busy" fights are fine but I think he could stand to step it up a notch even for that.

It's crystal clear he's not being risked at all until he can fight for a title.

Speaking of which, when is he meant to be fighting Stiverne? That's the real meal ticket right there. What the hell are they waiting for.

it is sad that deontays team does not believe in him. they keep putting him with ordinary boxers for a reason. i just think he is heading to doom. putting him in with easy oppostion will not prepare him for better oppostion

I know Freedom sees it the other way but I think Deontay will get exposed and cleaned up by Stiverne. Stiverne also hits very hard. But even though Stiverne lacks the range and is a slow starter he still has great speed and is an excellent boxer like none that Deontay has ever fought.

Wilder has not even proved himself against Chisora type opponent yet.
