Brooks hasn't done anything so I don't see how it helps or hinders Porter

He's done as much as Porter. He's #5 Ring ranking with JMM & Bradley before him (because they've had much more exposure). Brook would easily beat JMM @ 147, and either Bradley or Porter would be 50/50.
