That's pretty nasty. I need to watch this fight again. I think I kinda mis-watched this fight. The clinching wasn't that egregious to me, I actually enjoyed the dirtiness of the fight () and thought Rios was looking for easy way out.
Not sure what people "think" their seeing but Chaves was lacing and raking the eyes every time he got his gloves underneath. He waited till the ref got in close then as they separated he raked!
If anyone here thinks he didn't deserve to be DQ's you don't know the very basic rules this DQ blatantly showed. He did it on purpose and the "throw down" was definitely on purpose too.
As I said before Chaves could have won on his own skill level but he choice to be a punk and he got what punk azz *****es get. He's lucky he didn't get his azz whipped in the back room. If I where in Rios's corner that ***** is going to the ER! I hate **** like two handed holding and then throwing in some **** on the breaks. That doesn't play well with me! Ray.
Have to agree with you Ray and not only that, the people here who are saying "thumbless glove" don't know what they are talking about.
Gloves have thumbs obviously, they are just attached, not like the old days where they were unattached. You can still get a thumb in the eye, as I have a few times in sparring.
It's very painful and can cause serious damage. Chaves was clearly trying to get his glove in Rios' eye, that with the extensive holding IMO deserved the DQ once I took a second look at the fight.
Say what you want about Rios, but the man comes to fight. He was hit low by Peterson repeatedly and never complained once. He's not one to BS and pu55yfoot around.
bwahahahah
what i seen was rios right off the bat being a bad boy. then chavez coming right back being even a badder boy. so much so that it made rios stop *****ing around.
someone finaly made rios be good. butt the cost was high.
Exactly. Rios was using his head as often as his fists.
If you're going that way in a fight, then deal with it when the other guy replies with his own tactics.
Like the first time Rios tackled and threw chaves, the second time Chaves took him down with him. If you're fighting rough and dirty then dont bch about it and just get it on.
Rios knew he was losing that fight, TR would not let his career end there.

Chaves lost my respect.
Excatly, every point you made was on point.
I thought we was gonna get a classic fight but Chaves didnt come to fight so we was robbed of a great battle, we all know Rios comes to fight 100% and doesnt play around.
i am a little upset after read all the posts here. For sure i saw another fight, because in my mind, was rios the one who started with the dirty tactics, with plenty of headbuts when he was near chaves.
I can't remember a single fight when a point was deducted for clinch, minor in the third round in the very first one.
On the contrary, some are right about chaves reacted poorly to the provocations of rios, who really started to play dirty, and put the dirty of his own.
But again, is was rios who started with headbuts when close to chaves. The later reacted poorly, that's right, but you can´t deny that rios started
At last, to all the purist here -who only see what they want-, i like to know what do you think about the instructions of rios corner, to continue to comit fouls, when referi cant see?
