Rios vs Chaves Eye Gouging Video

I feel like the split in this argument has more to do with how people feel about Rios, when in truth, Chaves' actions are indefensible against ANY fighter.
Your eyes are very fragile and quite sensitive, even the skin on your eyelids is thinnest than anywhere else on your body (1/500 an inch as opposed to an average thickness of 1/20 an inch elsewhere).
Boxing is supposed to be a gentleman's sport and that's hardly ever the case, but a line has to be drawn somewhere otherwise you're setting a bad influence for future fights. We're all disappointed the fight was stopped, but perhaps far worse was prevented. The referee, after all, is supposed to protect the fighters.Comment

No, he wasn't in survival mode. Actually he was winning the nine round pretty handily. I think he was unexpierence at this level and underestimated the ref warnings. I saw the opposite, i think he was overconfident towards the end of the fight when he should have stopped with dirty tactics. Rios was pretty much done in the last rounds as he usually does.Comment
