He is very good in that one dimesnion though and that was enough for now but against B-Hop I think it won't be enough. If Hopkins would be 10 years younger he'd make a clown from Kovalev, now it's a little harder to pick but I pick Hopkins by clear UD victory. If I won't be right I'll appreciate Kovalev, but now for me he is very overrated and I don't think that he can do with Hopins what he did with the Cleverleys, Campillos and Agnews of the world. If you think that he will walk through on Hopkins like a beast, like he did against Cleverley or Sillakh you will be surprised.
    Can I bet with you?

I meant one dimensional as in- a slow, crude, plodding fighter who mindlessly moves forward in a straight line. Obviously Kovalev is a pressure fighter and he goes forward.

Kovalev creates a lot of different angles with his good footwork and pivots, he is very good at measuring distance and keeping himself in range to unleash a big shot but with enough distance between his opponent to be able to avoid a punch or two. He's creative puncher, he feints a lot with his jab and then follows up with a crushing right hand that always seems to hurt his opponent when it catches them off guard.

He lunged in the shot that put Agnew down in the 2nd round in their fight but that is not normal. I think he just had no respect for Agnew and knew he couldn't hurt him. Besides that, he is very disciplined and that is going to be key against Hopkins.

Once again, Hopkins is almost 50 years old. And if you think he's unstoppable just because of his ATG/HOF legacy, I think you're sadly mistaken and going to be in for a surprise.

I have no idea what Pavlik has to do with anything or why anybody keeps bringing up past Hopkins opponent. Kovalev is no Pavlik. And I never hyped Pavlik up.

And no..... I didn't say Matthysee would kill Danny Garcia

The disagreement based on that you actually think that Kovalev is the real deal and I think that he is just another hype job. We will se whi will be right. Based on his resume Kovalev didn't prove that he is in the same calss as Hopkins. And what I see from Kovalev didn't impress me much. He has a good offense and he hits hard, but his speed is in best case is average and his defense is mainly his offense. He is the poor man's Golovkin. I have a higher opinion on Golovkin he is overrated as well, but just because many people put him already on p4p top 10 based on mainly opinions and fantasies not on resume but Golovkin at least is ner from the top 10 and he is definitely in the top 20. So otherwise I don't think Golovkin is a hypejob, he is truly a very good fighter, IMO best in middleweight, but I think Kovalev is an other case.

Kovalev barely has a resume. He burst onto the scene just last year. With that said, Campillo should of been unified champ when he fought him, Cleverly was a top 10 LHW, and Sillakh, although glass-chinned, is a highly skilled fighter.

Don't forget he's been calling out Adonis and Hopkins since August of last year. Resume, in regards to Kovalev.... doesn't matter. He's doing that now. He's building his resume now.

Fair enough, though. My question to you is:

Will you give Kovalev credit if he beats Hopkins? Would you admit he's not a hypejob?

I didn't say that YOU hyped him up, I can't even say because I wasn't here those times. What I talked about that this is an effect in boxing world. Not always the same people hype the power punchers up. But if you think that Kovalev is another beast than Pavlik that's fine, I have different opinion and I'm not impressed by Kovalev as far. The time will hopefully tell us who will be right.

Yes I will, I already wrote it in my previous comment. I will give him the creditif he'll beat Hopkins, naturally unless he win by robbery but thereis just a very-very little chance of it, so it'salmost sure that if he win I'll give him credit.
And how you will consider him if he lose to Hopkins?

He lost to a certified ATG...... and at 49... I will be highly impressed with Hopkins. Like, if he beats Kovalev, this is a HUGE legacy fight for Hop, IMO (not that he needs it)

Like I said, this isn't Murat or Shumenov. If Hop beats Kovalev his ATG ranking rises tremendously.

Hopkins is the only guy at 175 who has the the type of style he has so if he were to beat Kovalev, I would still fancy Kovalev over anybody else at 175

But I don't see it happening.
