  • Comments Thread For: Frankie Gavin: I Thought I Won, Even Bundu Said I Did

Talented southpaw Frankie Gavin was sent back to the drawing board as he was methodically bludgeoned to a split decision loss by classy European welterweight champion Leonard Bundu in Wolverhampton. The unbeaten Birmingham star looked out of his depth early on as Bundu's vast experience and technical aptitude saw him a step ahead.

Gavin seemed to find his feet in the early middle rounds but was floored by a body shot in the sixth and despite showing huge heart and flashes of skill, never recovered en route to a first professional loss which could have been much wider.

I still need to see this, but everybody saying Bundu won.

Ima laugh if he's just taking something Bundu said like you're a winner too and just twisting it

I always worried about gavins body. I ain't seen anyone dig him to the body. The shot didnt cpnnect fully either. I think gavin should be fighting at 140. No one respects his power at 47. Bundu was walking through his shots. Imagine if he steps up and fights the top welterweights.

It wernt close I scored it 116-111 for bundu. Boxnation were being biased and gave gavin every close round. Bundu thought he lost because he thought he was away from home and the judges would favour gavin.

If Gavin had the work ethic of Ricky Hatton when he trained, with a purer off season diet, he'd be the next Mayweather. What a shame.

We'll pretend you didn't just say that yes.

Yeah get on it, it was a fun fight. I thought it was close, certainly can't argue with Bundu winning. I thought Frankie had the classier skills but Bundu didn't really respect his power and kept walking him down. Gavin was pinned on the ropes way too much, particularly in the middle rounds and the close rounds come down to whether you prefer slicker more accurate boxing or a high work rate and pressure.
