If Manny was on PEDS during his great run then how ironic he would get knocked senseless by another accused PED user. Karma is a b*tch. Without solid proof, then lets just enjoy these two greats up until they decide to hang up the gloves.
Random testing IS the solid proof. Yet, it's not mandatory. I wonder why. Maybe for the same reasons that our beloved NFL (specifically the player's union) has been delaying HGH and other PED testing for over 3 years now. Which only makes the above post a little disturbing because it has the attitude of most sports fans, which is ignorance is bliss. There's no "solid proof" against Barry Bonds or Mark McGuire. So should we still enjoy their monumental accomplishments they achieved late in their careers? Pro sports should either be real about PED testing OR just make it all legal. Better than lying to the public.

          • Random testing is solid proof if it is done correctly, VADA, Olympic style testing. Fighters should not choose which test they take. I agree with your statements. However, the times we are in, it's not mandated. Being a fight fan are we not supposed to enjoy a fight? When McGuire and Sosa had their home run battle, we could all assume they were on a steroid, yet we continued to watch. It was intriguing regardless if they were cheaters. Sports is a business. Whatever makes them money, will be. Let them all have asterisks by their names if they don't test all I care. Downfall of performing in an era which PED's are easily accessibe and rules are not firm and fair. Let PAC and Marquez fight again with the title for the Payperview as: "Who Got The Juice Now." Like Russell Crow in Gladiator "Are you not all entertained!"

            • I'll be completely honest here, I absolutely love what he did to Pacquiao and I will forever cherish that moment as one of the all time greatest moments in boxing history....BUT....I'll be honest and say I don't really care for Marquez as a person or a fighter after that move he pulled against Bradley. Just because he can't deal with movement and defense doesn't mean his opponent was "running". It shocked me even more when Nacho accused Bradley of doing the same thing. Bradley straight boxed your ears off son, no ifs ands or buts. To call it "running" and a "robbery" was a shame within itself. To think that a self proclaimed HoF trainer like Nacho called it running was a disgrace. It's not his fault you don't know how to deal with movement and cut off the ring better.

We continue to watch because we are addicted to sports. Sports writers that are covering these PED scandals have all said that most sports fans don't care, which makes perfect sense. We want our fix, no matter how we get it. If PED's are improving the entertainment value of our sports, then so be it. I think we oversimplify the reason of "what are we gonna tell our kids?". In my opinion, I think it's more about our fandom/addiction blindly contributing to sport institutions (like boxing, NFL, MLB, etc.) that are burying the truth and rigging the system for their own benefit. In any addiction, the supplier always wins. They are the suppliers and we are the addicts. We can easily take the pessimistic view that this is the real world and it is what it is. But I think by sitting idle while our beloved sports are being corrupted, we are accepting the same treatment for ourselves in all the industries we work in, which is "if you cheat and get away with it, then I will too or be forced to cheat just to keep my job". If we don't have a problem with that, then none of us have the right to complain when we get beaten by a cheater.
