Martinez cannot pick Cotto mate, it's the other way round. The B-side cannot "pick" an A-side, Cotto called and. Martinez pretty much sold his belt on no legs to Cotto... That's what an A-side does to you (Money).

Rahman was in great shape & has always had one punch KO power. lennox showed in the rematch what he could do to Rahman but I still don't think it was a huge chery pick. Rahman was 31-2 & both his losses were fights he was winning when he got caught by a big puncher...
Good points but i still think they chose rahman because he wasnt viewed as a big threat IMO,, they thought the first fight would go just like the rematch did.. a few spirited rounds and lennox would stop rahman

Just because Jones was favored to win doesn't make it a cherry pick. If anything that should be considered terrible matchmaking on Jones' part being that he was just KOd less than 6 months prior. No one would have complained if he took on a bum as a comeback fight. Most guys do after getting knocked out.
Johnson was viewed as a guy with 9 or 10 losses, and not on the level of roy jones... He was viewed as a guy that was about as dangerous as a del valle, woods, gonzalez and that roy would handle him...
If roy really was gonna test himself, he would have just rematched tarver instead

How exactly does the challenger pick the lineal champ? You guys make no sense. Sergio chose Cotto for that payday, doesn't take a genius to figure it out!

DLH vs Sturm...Sturm whupped his ass all night with one of the stiffest jabs I've ever seen, and had DLH nose bleeding after rd 1. Even though they robbed Sturm he totally exposed DLH

RJJ vs Tarver...Instead of fighting B Hop after B Hop enihilates Trinidad he avoids B Hop and fights Tarver instead, and so begins the end of RJJ legacy

Does Margarito-Mosley count as a cherry pick? Most felt Mosley was finished and that Margarito was gonna destroy him.

I see where you're coming from but Martinez thought he was going to blow Cotto away because he was moving up. He chose to fight Cotto because he thought it would be an easy money fight, instead of fighting who he really should of fought GGG.

You cant say Martinez KNEW anything cause of what he was saying leading up to the fight. Its called promoting and hyping up the fight. He chose Cotto cause it was the BEST PAYING FIGHT OUT THERE... not GGG. What Martinez did know was that his knees were/are ****ing shot. And knowing that, he knew that it would not be an easy fight. Especially for a fighter who relies on his legs.

that's weird, because right before the fight merchant is warning us that if roy jones is an old roy jones, this is not the guy he necessarily wants to be in there with

I would probably put that one on the list, along with most Hopkins fights after he turned 40. I thought Tarver, Pavlik to name a few picked him because he was just a name that was coming towards the end of his career, their own career was at the top and they wanted a name on it just like Margarito with Mosley.
