Cotto wanted The Ring title and a big PPV, big money fight. GGG had neither, and still even now meets none of those criteria.

Another thing, people saw Martinez's long lay off, age and surgery as evening out the mismatch it would have been if it was a 100% healthy Martinez, younger, and active. My prediction was Martinez would win, but that Cotto has a chance because of Martinez's age and injuries. That's pretty much what the majority of fans thought as well.

GGG is high risk , low reward, wouldn't be a win over a future HOF'er or Ring champ, ATG, nothing. Just a loss against big power puncher at MW with a lot of hype behind him now. If he was the same height/size as Cotto, or closer in size/height, Cotto would have beaten him IMO. He's too big, Cotto at 155lbs is too small.

Oh and don't give me the miguel deserves a payday either, he got a shot at a title without even deserving it but he deserves a tune up? FOH.
Miguel does carry a big name and fans with him though which get him any fight he wants. Same with Manny and Floyd and now Canelo. Unfortunately GGG, while he has the name now, doesn't carry that huge following yet. Doesn't help that he's destroying every guy they put in with him either that's for sure. Most of the these guys see it as too much of a risk. Canelo will fight him I guarantee it. Hopefully end of 2015 it will happen. Canelo seems like hell fight anyone.

just dumb. "he got a shot at a title without even deserving it". Thats just dumb. Rodriguez, as much of a tune up guy he is, was ranked in the top 15 for the wbc belt. Cotto went whooped his ass, got into the top 15 and became champ. A mandatory fight, IS NOT the same thing as a tune up fight.

Who knows if Cotto's next fight is gonna be at 160... you guys are killing Cotto and we don't even know if he staying at 160... did he take advantage of the Martinez health situation and get a "easy" belt.. absolutely... but in no way shape or form does that mean he need to continue fighting at 60 or fight the best fighter at 60, who we all know is GGG. You guys make it seem like Cotto is a killer at 160 and GGG & him is the best fight there.

Cotto whooped his ass? Yea he was suppose to, he was a BUM. Not quite Rod Salsa but close. No one is obligated to take their mandatory, they take em when it is convenient. Which is probably what Cotto will do with Rubio.

So, is Cotto not the MW champ? That's the issue here, if Cotto is going to fight at middleweight and wants to keep the MW championship, he should defend it against his top contender, who most everyone thinks is the true best MW.

That's my only issue. I don't want to watch Cotto keep hold of that championship so he can sell it off to the highest bidder at some point. If he's the champ, defend against Golovkin. Same thing I said about Martinez.
