Anybody who believes it wasn't his knee that was the problem is a fool.

"Your knees are not responding". That was what Sarmiento was yelling at Sergio and that was why he stopped the fight.

His performance that night was completely typical of a fighter who had lost the mobility that they've always relied on to win. The writing was on the wall in the Murray fight and it was read aloud in the Cotto fight.

Sergio's remarks and Debella's remarks here are just a means to sell his future fights.

You'll see. Sergio will come back and win against limited competition, but his mobility will still be completely shot.

I love Sergio. Prime Sergio wrecks everybody including the "tbe", but he is sooooo done right now.

Cotto fans are a little sluggish with logic and common sense even when its smacking them right in the face. No, but it was the left hook!! lol. Their homerism cracks me up. Don't even bother man. A blind person could tell Sergio was fighting without legs that night.

Proud of DiBella supporting Maravilla. But this is a longshot at best with them knees.

No one is saying that Sergio's trainer was wrong, we all agree his legs were ****ed up. It was because of a punch, not a prior injury or his knee even being injured during the fight. He got hit in the temple which messes up your equilibrium, this isn't the first time it has happened and it won't be the last. If you need an example of what an actual injured knee looks like go watch Cotto vs Yuri Foreman or simply watch the Redskins playing RGIII in the playoffs. Their knees lock up to where they are completely immobile, Sergio was constantly moving even running at Cotto in the 5 or 6th round I think it was.

Actually, the Cotto fans are saying his legs were ****ed up. But, like Sergio himself said and his promoter, it was from a punch. And, I gave 2 examples of exactly that happening, it isn't some new phenomenon in boxing. The problem is people who picked Sergio to win still have trouble dealing with the loss.

Please do me favor and have 2 knee surgeries and try boxing for 12 rounds. Would appreciate the feedback. Sergio has never been hit in the temple before by other bigger stronger fighters? The legs were not there for the whole fight. Moving around the ring does not mean his legs where there smart guy.

Even Roy Jones was saying his legs were shot in the first round. You Cotto fans can say whatever you want about the punch that landed. Us realistic boxing fans have eyes to see for ourselves. This is boxing, your gonna get hit whether you like it or not. You need leg resistance to take and em and keep fighting. Maravilla was working without that benefit.

His promoter, Lou DiBella, tells BoxingScene that he supports Martinez’s decision. Martinez will soon be coming to New York to “see one of the top orthopedic guys in the country” and “be fully checked out,” DiBella said.

Martinez should have come to be consulted by a top orthopedist in the U.S just after the Jr's fight. I've said it here. He says that is not his knee, but he wasn't able even to take sparring during last camp.

All that and you still have no clue that I agree with you. But his legs were fine, until he got punched in the dome it's that simple. You also fail to say that Max Kellerman said "I didn't see Sergio limping before the fight, it wasn't until he got hit that his legs turned to ****." Also later in the fight we hear Lampley say "For all the talk about us saying Sergio's legs was hurt he is moving around the ring well" or something to that affect.

So, go watch Cotto/Foreman and see how an actual ACL/MCL tear does to your knee. He was immobile, with his knee straight locking up this was NEVER the case with Sergio. He was always off balance like he was dizzy... which happens when you get hit in the temple. Even Sergio is saying it wasn't the knee, but no you guys know more than Sergio or his promoter, because you certainly don't know a damn thing about boxing if you can't figure this simply concept out.

He rarely spars, and he did spar during training camp. I believe it was Jim Lampley who said they brought in Austin Trout and sparred with him for some reason. Now, I will say his doctor handled it like an idiot you build up your leg strength she had him not using it... at all. It's called REHAB it is painful, but that's what puts the strength back into the knee.
