Still despite the layoff, the numbers are a huge disappointment in comparison to other lesser known fighters like Kovalev and Provodnikov who put up bigger numbers against lesser competition.

Maybe he does need an 'elite' opponent to get the hype back.
It happens sometimes. Bernard Hopkins vs Murat did over a million but Hopkins vs Shumenov did around 700k. Why? No idea. You'd think those numbers would be reversed since Shumenov was a unification bout and fought in the US many times while Murat never did.

Obviously it still sucks for GGG in the short term as far as trying to make a case for other big stars like Cotto to fight him now (but Cotto's team rejected that idea even before the ratings were released). So the best he can do I suppose is just stay active. Not many options out there.

BigJavi... this is comic relief.. seriously especially after all the back & forth when Cotto said he wasn't in the Majors... lmao.... what great timing to make them look foolish... oh man this is great.

                • The crazy part is even his fans dont want him to mix it up with Ward, but now he's gonna be forced to fight him. If his fans would call for him to take the challenge then it would be a HUGE fight, and shouldnt his fans think he could win if they think those past fights were legit?
