To be completely honesty, it *doesn't* make financial sense to fight Ward with respect to Golovkin's marketability. Sure, a Ward Golovkin fight will sell well. However, the fight would be so one sided and the beating Ward would lay on Golovkin so severe that Triple Duck's ability to earn in future fights would be negatively impacted. In short, it makes more sense financially for Golovkin to continue beating up on TOMATO CANs for as long as HBO is willing to finance the Triple Duck side-show. Getting beat down and KTFO by Andre Ward puts a serious damper on that...Comment

July and August are generally poor ratings months. Those are the vacation months for many. As i said in another post after that though. It is still poor even taking summer into account. It had little more than half as many viewers from his last oneComment

Fighting subpar fighters over the last several years isn't going to boost your ratings. GGG bet opponent thus far is Curtis Stevens whose and undersized MW. That simple will not due for the fans even if you're high on GGG. Promotional wars a side they have to find a way for GGG to actually fight somebody whose world class caliber.Last edited by Godsfly; 07-29-2014, 11:35 AM.Comment

I watched and will continue to watch. That said, GGG is not the Undertaker and this isn't WWE. His "streak" is not something fans are going to continue pay to see unless a 1 or 2 of the KO's comes against far better fighters.Comment

Golovkin/Stevens averaged 1.4 million.
Golovkin/Macklin averaged 1.1 million.
Golovkin/Rosado did 800k.
Those are his only 3 relevant fights on HBO.
Couldn't find any ratings for Ward's fights with Rodriguez or Froch.
Ward/Dawson did 1.3 million.Comment

Ratings seem to be down for almost everyone this year. Especially looking at what the same fighters were drawing in previous years.Comment

If GGG and his team are going to act like that, why get surprised if/when cotto/canelo/Floyd/many/Sergio/jcc jr all say that to him?Comment
