But that's not the argument. 160, I agree. 168, now that's pure speculations.

Maybe with the exception of Quillin, you couldn't have asked for a better b-side middleweight dance partner.
Idk why they don't see it or refuse to.

Cause GGG fans and team jumped the gun. They thought the guy was already a star. And this whole event was a big reality check to ya'll. Flopped at the gate and in viewership.

Where does it say 8500? Did I miss something or are you guys really that delusional? BScene reported 5500 a few days before the fight. And 8500 doesn't necessarily mean that they were SOLD. You gotta take comps into consideration.

Mostly BS hype from Sanchez and Leoffer. I've watched the sport long enough to know these type of guys say anything to hype their guy up. What they truly mean is "we'll fight anyone at a lower weight or higher weight if it makes a lot of money". Similar to Andre Ward saying he'll fight at 160 for Floyd, or countless other fighters who would do something they normally wouldn't do for a big payday/opportunity.

Which is exactly what I predicted would happen if Cotto beat Martinez. That would be a real tragedy. Imagine if Rigondeaux or someone like that was never given a shot by Donaire. Thats when this sport sucks ass.
Ok. I get caught up in NSB sometimes. My bad. I think its a good fight as well.

Well, yeah I knew what he meant as well. But this is NSB and literal translations are the fuel that drives the insanity engines.

I agree. But money drives all in boxing and the sanctioning bodies and networks need to be held accountable. JWW, WW, MW, CW will not have the 2 best fight one another. Damn shame indeed.

Why should he move up to fight the best fighter at 168 when he can become the official man of his own division.

IF he moves up.... It woul be ****** to fight Ward first. Fighting Froch or Chavez Jr to get accustomed to the new weight class would come first before fighting the #1 guy

If you don't understand this, you just want him to lose.

Furthermore, Ward is the one with no promoter or opponents. He actually cleaned out his division unlike GGG. Why doesn't he move up to fight Kovalev and become a champ in a second division?
Because GGG and his Team said they are willing to fight anyone from 54-68... and since Ward does better #'s than GGG... its a makeable fight.. this article cleaerly states GGG is in no position to dictate things.. I have no problem with GGG staying at 160 and cleaning it out for the next 10 years.. what you don't understand is cotto is not a middleweight... he just saw a opportunity to beat Martinez one on leg and took advantage of it.... You can complain all you want about this if Cotto continues to fight at 60 with the like of Rubio, etc etc while ducking GGG.

        • K2 will likely blame the ratings on the 8 month HBO layoff. He fought Adama in between but that was non-televised.

Still despite the layoff, the numbers are a huge disappointment in comparison to other lesser known fighters like Kovalev and Provodnikov who put up bigger numbers against lesser competition.

Maybe he does need an 'elite' opponent to get the hype back.

          • "Casual" boxing fans are becoming more in-tune with what is actually going on

They realise gaele would probably lose to ggg's last opponent macklin so it's a step backwards...

Good, i'm going to remind you of that should all this happen. Shouldn't Mayweather fight Golovkin then if this does happen?

King that's where I disagree.. he is a star.. he just gotta face better opposition.... or a big money fight (massacre) like Cotto or Ward.. theres nobody at 160 I would "Pay" to see him watch... this last fight vs Geale was in NYC.. I live in NYC.... and not once did I even think about going to see this fight live.

I don't care really if he is or not. Like I told you, I enjoy watching him (who doesnt?). My beef is not with the guy but with those who overestimated his worth. Matter of fact, even HE possibly overestimated HIMSELF too.
