Resume battle: Miguel cotto or Carl Froch

The only two guys active in the sport who took on the creme de la creme in their primes, no catchweights, no excessive demands, no BS fought all of them at their best(many times in their hometown) and beat nearly all of them.

    Miguel Cotto legendary resume:
    - Pacquaio
    - Mayweather
    - Mosley
    - Margarito
    - Martinez
    - Trout
    - Malignaggi
    - Carlos Quintana
    - Ricardo Mayorga
    - Judah
    - Clottey
    - Torres

    Carl Froch legendary resume:
    - Mikkel Kessler twice
    - Andre Ward
    - Groves twice
    - Jermain Taylor
    - Lucien Bute
    - Jean Pascal
    - Glen Johnson
    - Arthur Abraham
    - Andre Dirrell

Martinez was at a catch weight.

Cotto also lost a lot of the big fights on your list.

I don't think it counts as a notch on their resume, when they lost to the guy.

I mean there's a lot of journeymen who face the best in and around their division too. Losing doesn't count.

I voted for Froch and it wasn't close. Froch only lost once convincingly and that was the ud lost to Ward. Cotto has two losses by KO and three clear losses by ud. Both men have faced very good opposition overall. Martinez was overrated and ready to be beat when Cotto KOed him but Cotto did look great in that fight. Overall resume favors Froch in my opinion. You can't just pretend Cotto wasn't outboxed three times and KOed twice in his prime.

          Froch has the better resume.

Yep, considering Froch was in the tough super middleweight division and got farther than people ever expected him to. Cotto is a legend in his own right but Froch simply had the tougher opponents by a country mile.

If we take gallant losses into account, it's close, but in terms of wins-only resume, Froch is better (unless you want to consider KOing the corpse of Martinez a great win).

As for "fought them all", I don't recall Cotto ever wanting any part of Paul Williams.

It's much closer than ppl make it seem. Cotto has the greater individual win. Froxh has the higher level of opposition over time. Close for me.

                  I would lean on Froch.

                    Which win? Martinez? Please...

Or do you mean Mosley? That's arguable.
