Comments Thread For: Jennings: That Was a Different Perez Than I Expected

Bryant Jennings hadn’t watched any footage of Mike Perez ahead of their fight this past weekend. He’d only seen him once, when he was at the arena in-person when Perez beat Magomed Abdusalamov last year.

Still, he had an expectation of what Perez would do.

“I expected Mike Perez to trade more. I expected Mike Perez to put a little more pressure,” Jennings said at the post-fight press conference. “That’s the reason why I’m so glad I do things that I do, because I’m an adjuster. If I’d had my strategy set right then and there on one particular type of style that Mike Perez would come out with, then I probably would’ve been in a little more trouble.”

I wasnt impressed by either fighter. they were both smothering there punches and not getting any leverage in there shots. it kinda reminded me of the botha/shulz fight way back ago. terrible fight

I somehow find it hard to believe that he planned to lose the first half of the fight though, surely can't have been the plan

Yeah that was also a different Perez than i expected. I was hoping he would be the new Mike Tyson but his last two fights were big disapointments. Hes not by far as out of shape as Solis but his stamina sucks. He Needs to do lots of cardio to get more stamina to go a higher pace. Then he could be a killer. But then again he is one of these lazy cubans.
        Im verry disapointed in Perez.

I like Jennings, picked him to win, but Perez outboxed him plain and simple. Jenning's stamina won the fight, Perez started fading after three, and looked like a commuter riding home after five. Jennings barely won, but he was forced to carry 250 lbs around, he couldn't keep Perez off.

Different in an out of shape, sloppy, holding way. And yet Jennings only did the bar min to win rounds.

Jennings needs to not try to make people think he has/had it all figured out. Perez caught him slush and out sped him alot.... but nothing from either fighter should worry Stiverne/Wilder winner or Klit.

Wilder and Stiverne have not fought anyone as good as either Perez or Jennings though. Do they do better with either of them? I'm not sure either Wilder or Stiverne don't look bad against either Jennings or Perez. Question marks to me.

Stiverne fought Arreola 2x. He wasn't that proven but I doubt either of these would be favored, at least before he got ktfoed
