I hope he gets KTFO'd out. I used to think Cotto has balls. It's obvious this diva is scared of Golovkin. We all know he would get blasted out in a couple rounds..... But damn I really thought they wouldn't use this "not a big name" excuse

The quicker Cotto gets KOd, the better for boxing. Giving 154lbers a shot at a lineal title in a division they never even fought in ruins the integrity of the sport

Cotto doesn't even beat the Macklin or Lees at MW.

A few very sound points in here. Cotto is celebrated as the "lineal" champion, in which that parlance is used as a testament to the integrity of the sport. However, in reality, the mere occurrence of him getting a shot at the "lineal" title is a testament to quite the contrary. Ridiculous. I think its time that a new lineage begin with Golovkin, starting now...

      Geale fail

If Geale didn't blow it against dismal Darren Barker last year, then Golovkin would have collected another belt on saturday. That extra title would have made the victory that much sweeter, and furthered his already obvious case as the true middleweight champion.

        Lost all respect for Cotto.
Why the *** would Cotto fight GGG when Canelo brings in a ton of more money?

Because boxing is also a sport. He can fight Canelo, but the proper thing to do would be to vacate his title

          Or am I just crazy?

I don't think anyone here is questioning GGG being the best guy at 60.... Cotto isn't even top 5.... GGG going for a paper champion...And I love Cotto.

Chances are Cotto will fight anyone. His team on the other hand has a lot to lose too so they're keeping him away from Golovkin and making up a bunch of excuses. It's understandable because should Cotto fight Golovkin and brutally lose, then Cotto's stock plummets big time and he'll lose his chance at fighting Canelo for a big payday and his team loses out on the payday too. It's a lose-lose situation for Cotto and his team so they're just looking out for his physical well-being for their own financial well-being. Cotto is a cash cow and his team is doing everything to keep him that way so avoiding Golovkin is understandable and smart. It's not like Canelo isn't dangerous but at least he's not Golovkin and Cotto and his team will earn a nice payday and a possible win which is nearly impossible against Golovkin.

In the days when there's a million belts to wear who gives a damn about them. Its all about match ups and Cotto wanting Canello at 154 makes sense. If the 160 belt is on the line it should GGG in there. Canelo has never fought in the middleweight division so how does he get a title shot? How did Cotto get the shot?
Its a joke how contenders are picked, they don't earn a thing anymore. You have fighters who now dictate who they want to fight and that's as bad as the multitude of belts offered.
The top ten line up has been gone for some time. When the prisoners run the asylum things get distorted quickly.
Everyone knows that GGG is the number one Middle so if Cotto wants his portion of the title to mean something put it up and go for the whole cake. If not go back to 154 and fight Canelo.
You can always go back up to challenge if you get by Canelo, getting knock out GGG won't help promote a Canelo bout!!!!!
                    Ray.
