That's what I was thinking. Once Golovkin breaks through to Yuri Foreman, Sergio Martinez, Nancy Kerrigan caliber. If Golovkin starts showing up at press conferences on crutches drooling on himself he will get that phonecall from Cotto.

It's about the combination of best competition and highest reward. Canelo is great competition and great payday. Chavez is good competition and great payday. GGG is great competition and low payday.

It's just unreasonable to expect 33 year old fighters to take the worst deal on the table.

Cotto certainly has the right to go down to 154, and IMO if he doesn't plan on fighting Middleweights Thats what he should do, instead of holding the title hostage.

Loeffler was dumb to say that when all he needed to say is something like "GGG is at 160 and focused on unifying the belts". GGG isn't obligated to go up in weight, nor id anyone else in the sport.

As a fan, not just of GGG but in any division, the lineal title is very important and hardcore fans should always want the best to fight the best so there is clarity in the division. It would be a shame if the lineal 160 title that we can trace back over a decade is passed around by junior middleweights and welterweights while the most deserving, real middleweight never gets a shot. That's what this all about to me.
Good post. I agree with everything you said.

Cotto is too small at 160. He fought Sergio at the right time but he shouldn't push his luck in a division where he is undersized. However if he decides to stay in this division, he's gonna have to fight GGG at some point.

Maybe will do good numbers while Canelo would bring in great numbers.

Tell me about it. Rosado, Ishida and Adama just don't cut it.

This is extremely manipulative and dishonest of you. Cotto fought all 3 of those fighters when he coming off a loss, and trying to get back confidence. In the heritage and customs of boxing, that is totally acceptable.

Please don't compare Canelo to GGG (both being "great" competition). Cotto's got a good chance of beating Canelo and a decent chance of not being completely out once he's knocked out by Golovkin.
