Lol If i didnt know better, I'd assume that Dirk on some level (either consciously or subconsciously) sets himself up for these type of responses.

Didn't compare the styles. My point is that Froch is an experienced fighter who has arguably the best resume in boxing right now. He's literally been fighting everyone in his division and guys who were favoured to destroy him as Bute was. So he's not going to suddenly be hesitant of a middleweight who's been feasting on a steady diet of bums.

Obviously HBO using it was silly, and I was wondering how Carl would feel knowing he's being used to prop up the GGG hype-machine.

However, I don't think that clip is a totally clear example of Froch being sarcastic. He actually sounds more serious than sarcastic - it just feels like he's not being serious because it's incongruous when you know his personality and self-confidence to speak like that about another fighter.

Another thing - when Groves talks about GGG 10 seconds later, and says that he thinks GGG would be too small, Carl chimes in saying "yeah, that's a good point actually". That second comment makes more sense if you view the first comment as him being serious. It doesn't really make sense if you consider the first comment to be sarcastic.

Yeah, I know we are totally over-analysing a throwaway line. Hopefully someone asks Froch against about GGG. Honestly, I can't think of a better fight in boxing right now, it would be stunning.

Honestly, if any one would be dumb enough to pick GGG over any version of Hopkins from 160 to the present 49 year old, forget about points, I would love to bet real money with that person.

It just seemed completely random and desperate by HBO.

Are they trying to set up that fight or what? Because no one from GGG's team mentioned Froch as a potential next opponent in the post-fight. Nor did the man himself.

There you go. This was after the Facebook thing. Day before the Groves rematch. He voluntarily mentions GGG as a future opponent.

CANELO-GGG or COTTO-GGG would be better fights....has GGG ever fought at 168? Might not bring his power up to SMW.

Didn't Lampley say that even if he were saying that he'd swerve him in the ring, there's a testament of GGG's power? That a guy like Froch wouldn't even stand there and trade with him?

Either way sounds like Froch is giving GGG his due. No problem there.

He meant swerve a fight with him but was clearly joking.

He has mentioned Golovkin as a potential opponent numerous times both before and after the interview in question.
