I would hate to see two blown up jr middleweights keep the lineal MW title hostage while the best middleweight in the world is on the sidelines.

(As entertaining as those fights would be)

Cotto: Take Canelo First; GGG Is No 40 Year Old Sergio!

Cotto fought a career best fight against Sergio. Sergio was also shot, and nowhere the threat Gennady would be. Cotto looked fresh and strong with Sergio. But GGG would make Cotto old in one night. Cotto needs to take his shot first with Canelo and see if he can luck out a win; probably not. But he has NO chance against Gennady.

No disrespect to Canelo, but I really hope he goes to jail or breaks a leg horseback riding or something.

Hopefully there's no catch-weight nonsense with Cotto/Canelo. The match-up is good, no need to spoil it.

Didn't know that GGG had a six-fight deal. That means he has one more fight on his contract (Proksa, Rosado, Macklin, Stevens, Geale). I bet HBO is hoping that Cotto takes the risk, because it's possible that 3G jumps to Showtime so he can whup Quillin's ass.

After the match, Golovkin said a unification with WBC champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs), who Roach trains, is his top selection at the weight.

That fight appears distant, even with Roach leaving the possibility open. The fight Cotto wants most, says Roach, is Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (44-1-1, 31KOs). Cotto returns on a date in December, but no opponent has been determined.

Canelo Vs Cotto is biggest, makeable fight in boxing right now.

              Cotto doesn't duck anyone.

Either fight is huge but both Canelo and Cotto would get seven figures for fighting each other.

They only want that fight if they can get a massive payday. Roach is smart enough to know this is no 40 year old shot Sergio Martinez. No doubt Cotto fought the best fight of his career. But against a prime 32 yr old Gennady who took a glancing shot from Geale, and while off balance still landed a straight right hand that stretched out Geale. This dude lands bombs and you stay hit. As a small middleweight as Cotto is and at 37 yrs old, no way does he hold off GGG. Roach knows that. That's why they want a huge payday with Canelo first. They have a better shot to win. He won't beat Canelo, but it would be a competitive war. You opt for GGG first and he blows up Cotto and that's the end of the road. Roach will use the possibility of GGG to leverage getting Canelo done, just as Pacquiao did throwing Provo's name around to lure Bradley out for a rematch.

He's not going to Showtime. Quillin won't fight Gennady period. He's had time, the media and Boxing has called for it. GGG would destroy Quillin just like he did the other killer (Curtis Stevens) from 168 who dropped to '60 to destroy everyone until Gennady train wrecked him. GGG has to be ecstatic after a performance like tonight , headlining HBO, the ratings were very good for Gennady's night. He'll stick around with HBO and he should. GGG has what Quillin wants; come and get it. GGG has Cotto, Canelo for two epic fights. Man up Quillin but you'll see Gennady with HBO.
