Kovalev is still the biggest puncher.
Who hits harder Golovkin or Kovalev?

Here is whats up with GGG from being around him a time or two. There are people who hit harder with one punch, but I have never seen anyone who hits as hard as GGG with every punch. Just averaged out, like if you took the power of every punch he threw in a round, without a doubt, GGG can dish out more damage than anyone. Every shot, even his set up shots are just hard thudding blows.Comment

Its not that simple, its about imparting acceleration onto a small object like a head, there reaches a point where extra mass is worth less than extra speed. There was a study done where it showed that the average acceleration imparted on the head of fighters didn't vary that much between heavyweights and the lower weight divisions.Force = mass x acceleration
Why do you think heavyweights knock each other out so frequently? The more weight you add, as long as it doesn't detriment acceleration too much, the more force you generate.
What the **** is even the point in this thread if it's not based off P4P? GGG = 90% KO, Kovalev 88%, game over. Not to mention dropping Kovalev in sparring + his comments on how special GGG's power is.
I know you and mathed are Kovalev supporters, but bring Kovalev down to 160, or GGG to 175 and your boy is getting smashed in both categories, in technique and power.Comment

For some reason I think Golovkin can take a better punch than Kovalev. Kovalev probably gives a better punch than he gives. He is no George Foreman. Golovkin freakin' took Geale's punch plus on the head and still threw a punch to drop him. Kovalev wouldn't be able to deal with that. If it came down to it, I think Golovkin has what it takes to beat Kovalev. A 10-15 lb. difference at this point isn't a huge difference considering Golovkin is a huge puncher. Look at Tyson who came in barely over 200 lbs. in his prime and was knocking out guys much bigger than him. At a certain point, size isn't the main factor in a fight when the smaller guy has huge power that equalizes any size disadvantages.Comment

You're talking about punch resistance. It's like saying Hagler hit harder than Hearns because he knocked him out.Lots of clueless posters here. Saying Kovalev hits harder because he is bigger and a light heavy weight, absolute rubbish. Both GGG and Killa Kov are hard punchers but Golovkin is clearly the harder puncher based on their sparring sessions.
Golovkin literally ran Kovalev out of Sparring and Kovalev did not enjoy being in thesame ring with Golovkin. It is also evident that Golovkin has a much better chin than Kovalev. Let me spell it out......
Golovkin took Kovalevs punche with 16 oz gloves and head gear comfortable.
On the other hand, Kovalev was troubled by Golovkins punches with 16 oz gloves with head gear.
I like both fighters but bringing size into this topic is not relevant at all. Didnt Cottos destruction of the larger Sergio Martinez how that size does not equal power every time, technique is much more important. Martin Murray who is about 6"1 and probably around 175 lbs on fight night did not hurt thesame Martinez that small Cotto faced and destroyed in a brutal fashion.

But I gotta give the edge to Golovkin, he has one punch ko's over geale and macklin which is better than any of kovolev's stoppagesComment
