But when that fell through, unifying at middleweight was once again the priority. And the entire time, he keeps calling for a fight with the welterweight champ. That's duck **** IMO.
GGG didn't promote ****, he was asked if he was willing to fight anybody from 154 to 168 and he said yeah because he is. You need to separate what the fighters want from what their promoters advise them to do. Obviously his promoter advised him to stay at 160 a while longer because of the financial opportunities there.

GGG has the sort of power where you would assume he would fall in love with it. But he stays disciplined, he stays balanced, he cuts off the ring effectively and he never wastes a shot. SCARY good.

I didn't see Geale being a challenge for GGG and it played out pretty much as I expected: Geale's movement and work rate giving GGG some irritation for a few rounds but GGG's power eventually affecting Geale.
I really enjoy watching this guy fight but HBO's ****-riding is something special.
I think Team GGG regrets going on record that they'll accept any challenge at 154-168. I noticed in the post-fight interview that GGG was explicit about unifying at 160 only. His management probably coached him on this. They don't want None of Ward right now. Pretty obvious. Style-wise, Ward is all wrong; the Oakland fighter is bigger, more experienced, most def not as attractive economically. Too many reasons to not make the fight.
Aside from Sam Soliman, I don't think any unification fight happens at MW. No Al Haymon fighter will step to Gennady. Team GGG will use this to rationalize their long-term plan to chase Canelo who can weigh close to 170 on fight night; or Cotto, if that lands in their lap at 154 (unlikely). If they have to look north of 60, it'll be Froch or Chavez Jr, with Ward a parsec third option.

I'm a big GGG fan, but Geale was never a threat. He doesn't offer anything that Golovkin hasn't seen before. The only boxer who can beat Golovkin is Ward. Everyone else around his weight will have to bully him or hurt him to beat him. Really so far his competition has been below average.
