I think that's a pretty unhealthy way to look at things. I wouldn't want to see a boxer fail because of how his supporters act, but I hear where you're coming from with dealing with some of the posters here (I rarely post because of some of the people on this site lol).


As far as him being "genuinely elite" (I don't know your criterion), time will tell I suppose, just like with Manny Pacquiao. Cotto has feather fisted stamina. Geale would take full advantage of that and grind him down. Cotto had to pace himself against Martinez even, a fight that Martinez couldn't even move in due to his knees. Geale takes Cotto into deep waters and drowns him.

The other 10% would beat him because cotto in reality is a 147 pounder fighting above that, not because of skills. Skills wise, cotto schools all at 160 except GGG.

I agree martinez was not 100%, but I also believe he hasn't been for quite some time yet he was still winning pretty easily. If you've ever boxed or watched it for long enough, you'd know that once you get hit in the temple with a solid shot like Martinez did in the first minute of the fight, it's extremely hard to get your legs back. In addition, dude was not able to train for a very long time so had me than usual weight to lose. When you drain yourself, your legs are also weak. Cotto deserves more credit for dismantling Martinez

I don't think one GGG "hater" would argue against him being the best middleweight in the world. But that's not enough. His supporters act like he's already elite. Hell, some think he's am ATG. And according to the hype surrounding him, personally I don't see it.
