No announcement yet.
The way to beat a pressure fighter is to make them go backwards

If your're evander holyfied and have a great chin and an awesome inside game then yeah it can work but for 99% it's not advisable to stand and trade and try to back up guys like provo, lucas etc etc

Look at how Bernard Hopkins fought Felix Trinidad, Kelly pavlik, Howard Eastman , shumenov...etc
It's all about playing to your own strengths too as well as exploring your opponents weakness . And if you can take your opponents best weapon and use it against them you have won the fightLast edited by jas; 07-26-2014, 04:16 PM.

BULL FIGHTER!
Keep it in the middle of the ring and circle him and when he does get you against the Ropes Clinch and either push him back to the middle of the ring or if you're not strong enough to push him to the middle of the ring turn him
Also TIMING THEM and Countering them, JMM fights his BEST against Pressure Fighters:
B-Hop is brilliant against Pressure Fighters As well because he has excellent timing and he is a good counter puncherLast edited by sicko; 07-26-2014, 04:25 PM.

Good examples of this. These guys usually need rounds to warm up and to move forward to gain momentum on their punches. Walking them down or simply standing your ground limits their effectiveness.

It depends on the type of pressure fighter and the ring IQ of both fighters. And it's true that not all pressure fighters are punchers.

I would say the WORST way to fight a pressure fighter is to play their game and try to push them back. Sticking and moving is the best way. You don't see fighters like Pernell trying to back up DLH, or Khan trying to push back Maidana. That's playing into exactly what they want.
