The way to beat a pressure fighter is to make them go backwards

Sure you can try to go backwards and counter but that will only give them momentum and you may win but you would have to use a lot of energy and take some punishment...you have to stand up to the bully and mind**** him.. Make him doubt his power and walk him down. Most pressure fighters can not fight going backwards and it will nullify their power and game plan.

You do not follow them, you "pressure them" work behind a good jab and break the body down...snatch their heart out

not all pressure guys are punchers

even then the pressure/slugger guys can be limited if forced to back up

        Alvarez vs Angulo
Floyd vs Marcos later on in the fight

It's often a good gameplan, but involves risk that varies according to the quality/IQ of the pressure fighter.

If its some mindless "i gotta go forward to do anything" pressure fighter like Rios and recently the way Ghost Guerrero has fought then going off the backfoot using the jab is also acceptable.

Most pressure fighters only know how to fight one way and that is coming forward

              Margarito/Mosley
              Alvarez/Angulo

Good examples of this. These guys usually need rounds to warm up and to move forward to gain momentum on their punches. Walking them down or simply standing your ground limits their effectiveness.

Works both ways Tesla most guys of other styles only know how to fight one way too and aren't very good coming forward forget about beating a pressure fighter at their own game. They don't have the skill, ability, power, or fortitude and conviction necessary to accomplish that.

Exhibit A: Kelly Pavlik Vs Edison Miranda

Though you better be a master pressure fighter.

Yeah, i gotta agree,,, guys like pavlik, tyson, margarito, etc were not as effective going backwards...

kovolev and ggg will both have problems if someone forced them backwards...
But its easier said than done, a huge risk trying to force a guy backwards
