Comments Thread For: Marco A. Rubio: I Demand My Right To Face Miguel Cotto

Mexico's Marco Antonio Rubio makes it clear that he's not trying to chase down a big name opportunity, he just wants to secure his earned right to fight for the World Boxing Council middleweight title, which is currently owned by Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico. Rubio was the mandatory challenger for Sergio Martinez, but the Argentine star sidestepped that fight to face Cotto in June. Cotto won by technical knockout.

I honestly wouldn't mind this fight if it was made as long as it wasn't PPv

Would be a good little scrap and should be very entertaining

If I were Rubio, I would just keep receiving step aside money forever.

Everytime the WBC champ fights, Rubio, the constant mandatory has to be given step aside money so the champ can pursue more lucrative bouts.

        It's like receiving royalty checks.

GTFO Rubio, nobody cares, you've had already a few chances to prove. We better like the idea of a Cotto-Canelo or Cotto-Golovkin, or at least I can say it in almost everybody's name.

Yeah, that's what I would do.. I would take the cash every time and demand to be on the undercard vs some bum, so you get paid twice.. Eventually a champ will want to milk his title and give Rubio a shot..

Good post. Rubio take lessons here.

Step aside cash. Get on the undercard.
