I picked Lacy.....because he was fighting very well, was young & fresh, & had the big punch. Calzaghe on the other hand had become stagnant......hadn't been in a tough fight for years, & I thought his age was gonna be a big factor, too.
None of that came into play, & Calzaghe couldn't have been more impressive, or laid out a more ruinous beating.

Obviously Calzaghe didn't impress many in the UK since Calzaghe was a solid betting underdog in his own country and he brings that up all the time.

Even the UK-based, boxingscene.com forum LEGEND, JUYJUY......picked Lacy.
He felt that Calzaghe was well past his best.

IMO its because Lacy is American there is a percepction that all American fighters are great because they have been schooled & educated on the US circuit which is tougher than the British circuit & it is much harder to reach the summit of the American ciruit than the British one

rightly or wrongly that seems to be the situation IMO

My pick was based on the Reid fight, a fight Calzaghe struggled with and one which Lacy dominated.

exactly thats what I'm saying I didn't count that in, If Lacy could stop a (past it) reid and easily why couldn't he stop a "past it" calzaghe. i was wrong obviously.
