Mayweather Sr.'s enormous ego prevents him from being a world class trainer. The only trainer with an ego that could match his is Teddy Atlas.

Floyd Sr. is partially right. Martinez started with his injuries after the Chavez Jr. fight and I believe Sergio really lost against Murray but he received the gift of a home decision. Floyd Sr. should not complain since Cotto took advantage and faced Martinez while Floyd decided to go after Maidana (maybe Floyd saw the opportunity but it didn't take advantage of it). If Cotto fights and beats GGG there is no going to be any doubt who is the best at 160 # regardless of Sergio's poor condition. And for those that believe that Cotto was the toughest fight of Floyd I am afraid that the honor goes to Castillo (just see the statistics of the first fight) but obviously Mayweather is not going to accept it. Don't trust what Floyd sometimes says. He just recently said that Canelo is better than Maidana and we all know what happened in both fights.

Take anything anybody says with a grain of salt, but I tend to believe Mayweather on this one because he feels the first Castillo fight was close because he (Floyd) fought with the wrong game plan, as evidenced by the one sided rematch. Mayweather said fighting Cotto was like a chess match where both fighters had multiple adjustments through out the course of the fight. Castillo's boxing IQ was not on par with Cotto's, Castillo wasn't really a thinking type of fighter, but he was very good at what he did. Also Cotto is probably the first fighter that I've ever seen Mayweather give so much respect to.

Do I think Cotto was his toughest fight, I say it's definitely a toss up between Cotto and Castillo, what I know is from seeing these 3 fights multiple times is Mayweather didn't have any problems timing Castillo, Mayweather was less defensive and more flat footed and come forward against Castillo which amplified Castillo's style, while Mayweather had a hell of time timing Cotto, which he admitted after the fight. One thing is for sure though Maidana is his roughest fight to date, but not toughest.

Lol Cotto almost got knocked out by Floyd in the last two rounds and only won like 4 rounds. I don't like Floyd either, but let's face it. Martinez was **** during the time that Cotto beat him. At least Mayweather gave rematches to guys he won sketchy decisions against. Did Cotto ever give Clottey or Mosley rematches? Why can't Cotto fight Canelo this year? Why has it gotta be all the way in 2015? Floyd didn't waste any time fighting him when he was the most demanded opponent for Floyd to face. They both try to get stuff to their advantage. And neither one is better than the other where that's concerned.

Fact is that Sergio Martinez called Floyd out for like 5-6 years now but Floyd wouldn't even want to fight Sergio at 154 ..... not even less than that. Floyd did fight at 154 3 times but the reason that he took those fights was that he knew that he was heavily favored. Against Martinez, Floyd saw the real threat.

Sr makes some good points, but you can't tell me a rematch with cotto for the mw belt wouldn't be the biggest fight for Floyd besides a manny fight..

Lmao that roach is a joke,,, remember when roach had manny and sr was training hatton, and hatton got destroyed..

There were no rematches because only about 10 people thought Cotto lost either of those fights. Clottey landed all of 5 punches and covered up the entire fight, so there was no need for a rematch and while the Mosley fight was good and competitive many felt Cotto clearly won. I like how you conveniently side step the fact that Cotto rematches Margaritto and chased PAC for a rematch but PAC would not agree to a 152 catch weight he wanted Cotto to go down to 150. Cotto stepped in the ring to fight any version of Martinez, and it wasn't martinez's knee that gave him a concussion in the first round. Also Mayweather deserves credit for pretty much defeating most top rated boxers in every devision he went through. Paul Williams was overrated and loss to Quintana, and was to busy chasing Margaritto, I don't care how many times he said Mayweather or Cotto's names because his promoters never contacted theirs, and Cotto wasn't even at welterweight yet,and Mayweather was going through issues with top rank trying to secure a fight against DLH.

Also Arum didn't want Margaritto to fight Paul Williams and that's the rematch Williams was chasing. Margaritto had already been beaten by Paul Williams and wasn't a threat. And I don't want to hear anything about PAC because the 2 legit negotiations where the fight could have actually happened it was Arum and PAC that walked away over BS. Everything that happened after that means nothing.

Then How Come The Thugs From Vegas Never Fought Sergio???

Floyd can't beat Cotto today. End of story. Maidana is proof, with the right trainer, you're a much better fighter. Cotto is the same story. Floyd was afraid to fight Sergio at any point; Sergio was always more than available. Too much risk, which is why Floyd won't fight Pacquiao still and won't extend a rematch to Cotto. Senior says Cotto needs to deal with Canelo. The Mayweather's are all good telling everyone who they need to fight; they're never willing to step in and take on all comers, or the best of the best. If Cotto beat Canelo, then Senior would say, you need to go redeem yourself with Manny. There would always be a story, just like there always is to fight Manny. The mayweathers are a bunch of weasels that love to squeal and talk.
