Boxing isn't shlt in a street fight and i'll take jiu jitsu over it because now a days people go for the takedown and ground n pound. People say it will only take a boxer 1 punch but if you don't land that one punch your screwed on your back. Only way you'll land that 1 punch KO 100% of the time is if you sucker punch someone (coward way).

Boxing is a great skill to have but if the other guy gets in on you, then you have to have a good "fight or flight" response and this is a natural thing. You attack them before they attack you. The dude comes in to tackle you and you should have your fingers digging into his throat before he even has his arms around you. Once he is on the ground, you should have already smashed his head into the ground at least 2 or three times. If you haven't made it that far by then, you don't have a fast enough response to stimuli.

most of the people in this thread probably never been in a fight or won one so discuss something you do know .. if your a skilled boxer there a 95% chance yur gunna beat the sh 1t out of some random guy looking for some trouble .. but then again you dont see skilled boxers beating up peole becuase yur hands are weapons once you take up the sport ..

Fought a few boxers when I was in the service, great foot work good skills, acted like a chicken with their heads cut off the moment it hit the ground.
Sorry to tell you, Boxing is excellent for the ring, and when your facing an average joe on the street , the moment they run into a person with some striking an grappling skills they are dead in the water.

Where I'm from, it isn't a good idea to get into street fights. Most people own guns and it isn't uncommon to see some people walking around with machetes.

Now a Boxer vs a MMA fighter is a different story. That debate can go on forever with both sides favoring compelling arguments. As far as the grappling and taking down is concerned, whats to say a boxer cannot get out of it if a street fighter puts him in one? Boxers are not just limited to throwing hands, they are supremely conditioned athletes that cover all aspects of athletics, mobility, strength, endurance, power, etc.
The only situation that I could possible foresee is if a boxer gets tense because he's not in his usual environment (ring, gloves, etc). Can't believe there is even a question as to who would win. Boxer easy.
