Comments Thread For: Mayweather's Nevada License Likely Sign of Solo Move

Floyd Mayweather Jr. could be going solo for his future fights. On Wednesday, Mayweather Promotions was granted a Nevada promoter's license by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. The vote was unanimous. Since 2007, Golden Boy Promotions has co-promoted all Mayweather's fights - and they will also work side by side for the September 13th rematch with Marcos Maidana at the MGM Grand.

Promoting in boxing is so wide open right now. Oscar has lost credibility without Schaefer. Bob Arum is done after Pacquiao. Don King is a non-factor. I think right now is the time to jump in the game as a promoter. Mayweather, Schaefer, Al Haymon could take over the boxing game together. All Haymon fighters will be "advised" to join Mayweather promotions and Schaefer has experience to run a promotional company.

If Pacquiao were smart he would have been working on doing something similar. But instead, Pac has permitted Bob Arum to diminish his star power and be dependent on Arum until the end.

This is really going to suck in the short term. Hopefully long term something good comes of it and we don't end up with 3 promotional companies who won't work together.

Haterz will throw up on themselves. And find new ways to hate. Good stuff floyd. He set up the game to where he got most of the profits from his fights, turned around, flipped it and got his license with two fights left. Maybe now floyd and arum might dp business because this cuts out the third man which is golden boy. If canelo fights on may 5 th, rest assure floyd will counter that with his own big fight.

Mayweather and Schaefer are not "close friends."

if floyd promotes his own fights it means:

                    1. he will be the one paying the judges.
                    2. he will be the one paying the referee
                    3. he will be paying for fight insurance
                    4. he will be paying his opponent
                    5. he will basically be paying for all the costs associated with setting up the fight.

If you mayweather miscreants cant see anything wrong with that set up, i dont know what to tell you.
