This is a pretty decent short notice fight.. Would have liked to seen Thompson or tarver get the call, but Ustinov is a fringe contender and a win for fury would just reinforce the notion that he is a top 5 heavy and in need of a title shot

Something tells me Alexander Ustinov will be scratched for an easier opponent. Fury could normally beat Ustinov, but he trained for a different style and changes this late means a low risk fight.

Boxing Scene understands that Tyson Fury’s replacement opponent for his bout on Saturday night in Manchester may very well be Alexander Ustinov 29-1 (21 KOs). Fury 22-0 (16 KOs) had been due to face Dereck Chisora in a rematch from their original bout three years ago but ‘Del Boy’ withdrew from the fight yesterday after suffering a fractured left hand in sparring.

Major props to Fury if he does go with Ustinov.

Ustinov has little else other than size and some power, but as the Tua fight has shown, he is not a journeyman anyone half-decent can beat. And Fury has shown enough vulnerability that it can be an interesting fight.
