I'm pretty sure you know he was a 12-1 underdog, and Arum asked everyone to boycott the fight because of the odds. This fight opened up at 14-1 odds, and will probably increase as time goes on.
Algeri won a close disputed decision for a belt at 140. And now without a decent fight at 147 or even being halfway well known, he gets a fight with Pac for his belt at 147.
Maidana was the legit 147 ld WBA champ coming off of a very strong win against Broner. So there is really no comparison in the two fights in regards to competition level.

It's a casual fans betting odds. They don't realize the great physical advantage of algieri yet; coupled by his hit and run fighting tall style against manny's age.

In fact, algieri has perfect style to spoil pacman at this age and time.
