  • Comments Thread For: Cotto Says Canelo, Chavez and Others on His List

WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs) says there are many options for him - including Mexican super stars Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. Cotto is scheduled to return to action in December, where he will make the first defense of the title he captured last month from Sergio Martinez at New York's Madison Square Garden. Besides Canelo and Chavez Jr., Cotto says there are many other names to be considered for future fights.

Nobody wants to see Chavez once again starve himself to make 160. Cotto vs Canelo makes sense and would be a megafight.

Dont know why he would throw chavez jr name out there unless
he plans to fight him at smw.Only real options imo are canelo
and bradley to have a big ppv fight.Even then bradley never been
      above ww.

Chavez is too big for Cotto, it would be damn near unfair. JCC Jr would be able to absorb the damage and possibly walk the smaller man down. Plus, JCC Jr is better off getting his ass beat against men his own size at 168.

Canelo vs Cotto is much more appealing to me. I'm just wondering about the weight class it will go down in. Cotto is the newly crowned Middle Weight boss but Canelo said he wanted to possibly stay at 154 for his entire career… lmao. So that's where my confusion lies.

Cotto is not a big guy so I'm sure if Canelo ever could see himself fight at 160 it would be against Cotto.

155 is the minimum for mw and i think that will be the weight they negotiate with. so it would be a fight for the lineal mw title..besides both fighters are pretty equal in size, and imo the skillsets of both fighters are equal as well...thats the fight i want to see! CANELO VS COTTO make it happen.

chavez is too big for cotto and the cut back down to 160 would be too much of a risk healthwise for him cause he has outgrown the weight class...the FROCH fight is what his camp should be pursuing, not cotto. what you think?

that's not my point but I see what you are saying. What I mean is since Canelo claims he doesn't want to go up to 160 at all and has proven that he will overlook a belt due to weight, will Cotto be willing to meet him at 154?

Edit - Drenlou kind of answered my question. thanks doe, green k
