Its up to the fighters to apply the lessons their trainer teaches.
Nope, a teacher has to inspire the student to learn. Apparently, DLH, Dawson, and Hatton decided the lessons werent worth learning - that is a sign of a bad teacher.

    Roach's and Garcia's students actually learn ****.

Even if i were just considering boxing, it'd be Garcia. Far more proven. Mayweather snr is a novice trainer. Im convinced Floyd Jnr is a natural talent, and Snr has led nobody else anywhere worth going.
Honorable man? You're kidding right? You do realize Garcia trained a guy suspended for loading his gloves, Maidana tried to wear non-approved gloves and Rios tested positive for PED's. He couldn't control his camp to where one guy kicked a 60 year old man with Parkinsons and another one was going psycho getting in everyones face. Garcia is a far better trainer than Mayweather, but he is anything but honorable.

Just because a trainer teaches things and gives instructions doesnt mean his fighters will apply them in fights.

When I first started boxing, my trainer said a lot of guys look good in the gym shadowboxing, on mitts, or hitting the bags but when they step in the ring, its up to them to apply what I have taught them.

My first trainer I dont remember his name I only trained him a few weeks but my main trainer, Merhav Mohar, said that to me.

Google him, or youtube him....He was only 2 years older than me but had to retire from damage in a fight he suffered a cerebral hematoma
Those are all valid points, but once again, who the hell has Floyd sr trained and taken to the top... Roger handled most of Floyd's career...
What makes sr so great... Just because his son is great, but what about papa Mosley or papa Trinidad or Papa calzaghe, how is Floyd sr so much better than these guys..

Floyd sr is probably the most overrated trainer in all of boxing.. I don't like Garcia but at least he has a track record of guiding guys to the top.. Same can't be said for Floyd sr..

Please name one fighter he has guided to the top.. He talks a good game, but his resume is lacking.. He seems just to use his sons success to piggyback onto established fighters ie hatton, oscar, Dawson, etc.. All were already world class champs when he took over, and he didn't raise them any higher

The fighter has to be inspired to learn. So you are gonna just ignore he trained his son from the grown up. Floyd had the desire to learn and loves to box...put all the hyping fights and whatever aside...watch him in the gym, he is all business and loves to learn.

          did you ever box?

If you did, you would know that a trainer can teach you everything he knows but only the FIGHTER can apply it. That is the same as a teacher in school.

That statement you made it obvious you never boxed

So true, there is nothing worse than a teach who is not able to reach and connect with students. Trust is a big issue, i wouldn't take a teacher very seriously if he was showing up late with bits of lettuce and taco sauce on his shirt. Would you?

I never cared for Mayweather as a trainer so Garcia would win. Also I believe Garcia cares more for his fighters while Mayweather seems to only care about himself.
