Comments Thread For: Jennings Not Focused on The Perez Who Faced Takam

Heavyweight contender Bryant Jennings (18-0, 10KOs) is ready for the best Mike Perez (20-0-1, 12KOs). The battle of undefeated heavyweights will take place on July 26th as the HBO televised co-feature to Gennady Golovkin-Daniel Geale from New York's Madison Square Garden.

Perez's HBO debut was an impressive one, where he won a war of punches with heavy hitter Magomed Abdusalamov last November. The brutal war left Magomed in a with a career-ending brain injuries. Perez returned in January and fought Carlos Takam to a lackluster draw. Perez did not look the same against Takam and whether he is feeling the effects of the war with Magomed is up for debate.

I think Perez is still a little shellshocked, on top of being the less technical fighter.
    Jennings by relatively easy UD.

Maybe Takam is just a better fighter than most realised & Perez isn't all that.
Perez for me needs to go back to what made him a good amateur & got him to where he is, he needs to box more and use his speed and stop brawling with bigger guys and relying on his chin so much. He doesn't have great power for a heavyweight.
He can still be fan friendly just box more, he'd make things a lot easier if he did.

He once again proved it by a good win against Thompson who has just beaten Solis before that. Jennings has yet to prove he is on Takams Level. Takam is also much bigger and physically stronger than Jennings. He reminds me of a slightly bigger and stronger Dereck Chisora wich is pretty good.

I need to rewatch the Takam/Perez fight....maybe Perez wasn't in the right mindset after the Magomed fight and Takam does look to have an engine on him.

Different style coming up for this fight...hopefully he's ready for what's coming up next

Magomed had no defence at all. It probably made Perez look better than he is. When Perez fought Takam , Takam was afraid at first but quickly realised he was the superior boxer and laid a beating on Perez who was lucky to get a draw.

Takam's a lot better than people give him credit for. He should be facing Jennings next weekend because he edged out the Perez fight. Takam has a great motor and puts pressure on well. He throws a nice uppercut on the inside. Can't wait to see who he's facing next.

I like Jennings over Perez though. He will outwork Perez and win by decision.
